A Place of Faith and Fellowship
Where God serves His people, and His people worship Him
St. Paul is a new Lutheran congregation in the Paris, TX community, dedicated to the salvation of souls through the preaching of Christ crucified for the forgiveness of sin. We are devoted to Holy Scripture, and to orthodox, reverent, liturgical worship. Thus, we are confessional Lutherans in every sense of the term confessional.
Our faith is based solely on God's Word as revealed in His holy Scriptures and our understanding of His Word as confessed in the Augsburg Confession of June 25, 1530, and as published in our Book of Concord during the Reformation of the Christian Church on June 25, 1580. Therefore, we are members of the one holy, catholic, and apostolic church, tracing our roots to the first century church as revealed in the New Testament. To which, our confession states: "We believe, teach, and confess that the sole rule and standard according to which all dogmas together with (all) teachers should be estimated and judged are the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures of the Old and of the New Testament alone, as it is written in Ps. 119:105, "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." And to what St. Paul has written: "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preach to you, let him be accursed." Gal. 1:8 (FC, Epitome)
Divine Service at St. Paul conforms to the historic liturgy of the Church whereby the life-giving Means of God's Grace are poured out upon His children through Word and Sacrament ministry. Divine Service is not a means of entertainment, but rather God's service which seeks to prepare broken and repentant sinners to receive God's forgiveness through His various means, the proclamation of the Gospel through the reading of the New Testament gospels and through preaching. God's forgiveness is also received through Holy Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and Absolution. The Means of God's Grace are meant to forgive the sins of His children while strengthen their faith through the assurance of the forgiveness of their sin. In Divine Service we join together with angels, archangels, and all the saints in heaven to worship and praise our eternal Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We invite one and all to come and worship with us, receiving God's blessed gift of the forgiveness of sins and the loving fellowship of Christians gathering in worship, as members of the Body of Christ: brothers and sisters in the community of Christ. Sola Deo.
We invite you to join us for worship, study, and fellowship. Discover the joy of belonging to a community that is passionate about sharing the love of Christ with others. Come and experience the St. Paul difference for yourself.
