St. Paul Lutheran Church

St. Paul Lutheran church holds to the doctrine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as stated in the Book of Concord published in 1580.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church celebrated its 500th anniversary on October 31, 2017. It is the first church of the Reformation. Beginning with the action of Martin Luther, a priest of the church at Rome, who, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the revelation of holy Scripture, was brought to the revelation of the false doctrine taught by the church of Rome. In response to this revelation, he challenged the church at Rome to a theological debate by nailing his ninety-five theses to the chapel door of the castle at Wittenberg, Germany.

Thereafter, Martin Luther was excommunicated by the church at Rome, beginning a period of theological writings and sermons by which Martin Luther reclaimed the doctrine of the Christian church taught since its beginning in the first century. This doctrine was embraced by numerous clergy and governmental leaders throughout Germany, and on June 25, 1530, the Lutheran reformers presented their articles of faith to the Holy Roman Emperor, King Charles V, establishing their faith. On this day the Lutheran church was formed.

St. Paul is a church of the Lutheran Confessions, a Church of the Augsburg Confession. St. Paul Lutheran Church treasures its fellowship in Word and Sacrament with those churches of the Lutheran Confessions with which we are in altar and pulpit a fellowship, fostering this fellowship with all diligence. However, in accord with Holy Scripture, we repudiate unionism, that is, church fellowship with the adherents of false doctrine. Unionism is disobedience to God’s command, causing divisions in the church, Rom. 16:17; 2 John 9, 10, and as such involves the constant danger of losing the Word of God, 2 Tim. 2:17-21.

Divine Service at St. Paul is conducted in accordance with the historic liturgy of the Church. In this liturgy God serves us with His life-giving Means of Grace through Word and Sacrament ministry. Divine Service is not designed to entertain, but to prepare broken and repentant sinners to receive God's Means of Grace, which grant His forgiveness to repentant sinners. God's greatest desire is to shower on us His forgiveness won for us by His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. In this liturgical service we join in communion with angles, archangels and Christians throughout the ages, worshiping our Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We invite all who are interested in learning God's Word as taught by the Christ's apostolic church, that Word which leads to eternal salvation in Christ Jesus, to worship with us each Lord's Day at 9:00AM in the conference room of the VIP Inn & Suites. Bible class follows Divine Service.
